Position Title: Accountant I 

Location: Mentor, OH 

Job Type: Full-Time 

We are seeking an entry level accountant to join our team.  This position will be responsible for a wide range of accounting efforts in a multifaceted group of companies.  This position will have a wide range of responsibilities impacting the financial statement and control environments for a group of operational, development, and construction entities.   

Accounts Payable:

  • Process and manage accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate payments. 
  • Request W9 forms from vendors. 
  • Collect banking information from vendors for electronic payments. 
  • Research past-due invoices and resolve discrepancies with vendors. 
  • Collaborate with operations for invoice approvals. 

Payroll

  • Validate hours, deductions, and process payroll accurately. 
  • Review new hire packets for completeness and accuracy. 
  • Coordinate with operations to meet payroll deadlines. 
  • Complete I9 forms and E-Verify processes. 

Monthly Closing

  • Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. 
  • Reconcile bank statements to ensure the accuracy of financial records. 
  • Prepare monthly Lodging, Accommodations, and Sales & Use Tax returns. 
  • Provide backup support to operations for financial reviews. 
  • Analyze revenue across multiple revenue sources/systems. 
  • Manage and dispute credit card chargebacks timely. 

Qualifications:

  • Accounting Degree (associate or bachelors)
  • Experience in the Accounting or bookkeeping field a plus, but not required
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in development, construction, hospitality, restaurants a plus
  • Experience with various accounting software packages with proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or Paychex a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
